A successful career may conceal the most tragic of tales. A winner of both the USA and World championships in hurdle events, Lolo Jones has reached her current position after many years of hard work and an enormous amount of perseverance. Jones was the only child of a five-child family, and grew up in extreme poverty. She lived with her mom in the basement of a church, and was constantly on the go. The sporadic lifestyle made it necessary for Jones to change schools and attend an entirely new school each year until the time she entered in high school. Jones was kept apart from her family at Theodore Roosevelt for the purpose of competing in athletics in track and field. Jones lived in four distinct houses during her years of high school, so she could attend all of her classes in one location.
